Outdoor Paintings - Art

Although I'm primarily an indoor painter, here are some paintings I've done en plein air, primarily in Central Park, which is not far from my home studio on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Some of the paintings are outdoor portraits of young women I worked with when I was a part-time Visitor Services employee at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. They posed for me and four of my old painting buddies over the course of seven summers, from 2002 to 2008. Our plein air "studio" was on a little hill between the Boathouse restaurant and the Conservatory Water. We were only able to schedule one 3-hour session on a weekday morning for each of our models, so time and the fast moving sun made capturing the best light effect a very challenging proposition. Some of the paintings in this collection have been signed digitally to re-position them for print requirements or to add a signature if the original was unsigned when photographed and is no longer in my possession.
